Alu Posta and Khajur Khatta

  1. Grind the poppy seeds to a smooth paste using some water.
  2. Heat oil in a Kadai/wok.
  3. Add the mustard seeds and cumene seeds.
  4. Add the potatoes.
  5. Cook covered till the potatoes become soft.
  6. Add the green chillies and fry for a few seconds.
  7. Now add the poppy paste and salt.
  8. Add a little water and mixed nicely.
  9. Serve hot with Roti.

  11. Khajur Khatta recipe
  12. _____________________________________________________
  13. 7-8 Dates (Khajur) deseeded
  14. 2 medium sized tomato cut into small pieces
  15. 2 green chillies chopped into pieces
  16. xbd tsp punch-phutana (xbd tsp each mustard, cumene, fenugreek,fennel and ajowain/carom seeds)
  17. 1 lemon sized ball jaggery
  18. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  19. 2 tsp of oil
  20. Salt to taste
  21. Heat oil in a pan.
  22. Add the punch-phutana and let them splutter
  23. Add green chillies.
  24. Add tomato, turmeric powder, salt, dates, jaggery and mix it properly
  25. Add a little water and cook till tomatoes and Dates become soft. Cook to a thick gravy .
