Mirchi is Chilly (here dark green ‘Lavangi’ Mirch) and Chatka means ‘burn’ in Marathi. Does that give you an indication of how fiery this recipe must be? This recipe is sure to burn your taste buds. This is an out –and- out chilli lovers recipe. I have used dark green Mirchi (something like ‘Lavangi’)for this recipe which is more Pungent. If your palette cannot tolerate the heat, use chillies which are less pungent. Before you enjoy this ‘Chatka’ make sure your room is well ventilated or even better switch on the AC or the fan 🙂 I have to warn…

Watermelon Papaya Salad
I was bragging so much about the wet rainy weather here and how it makes me crave for PakodasJ The Monsoon seems to have taken offence to this and has suddenly disappeared. It’s almost as if summer is back here and 99 out of 100 people are suffering from Flu, including my little one L To pep our mood from the gloomy weather I made this Watermelon-PapayaSalad. Watermelons are not in season but thanks again to Reliance Fresh we get most of the things anytime of the year now. A simple Watermelon-PapayaSalad with Ginger-honey-lemon dressing goes straight to Boise, to…
Friday Monsoon Magic -Dabeli
Incessant rains and frequent power cuts have kept me off blogging for the past week. Getting to work and back seemed like a big ordeal when rain Gods decided to visit us for 3-4 days continuously. The only positive aspect was the lovely rainy weather (which makes you creep under a blanket with a book in hand, music and some thing to nibble) encouraged me to try some spicy hot recipes. Today, for my Friday -Monsoon Magicseries I have a recipe for Kutchi Dabeli or Double Roti. As the name suggests this recipe finds its origin in the Kutch region…
Chocolate Samosa with Cappuccino cream
I happened to accidentally stumble on this recipe by Sanjeev Kapoor here while surfing the net. I love chocolates and I had the ingredients in stock. I tried this recipe out of curiosity and it turned out to be something different and great. Frying the chocolate was something different!I halved the proportions in the original recipe for the samosa- i.e. the covering and the stuffing, since I was not sure how it would turn out to be. I made the Cappuccino sauce thicker than that mentioned in the original recipe. Also I tried 2-3 different shapes along with the triangular…
Methi Mutter Malai (Fenugreek- Green Peas curry)
Last weekend, we had some guests from Bangalore. We took them to a nearby winery- Sula wines, acres of vineyards on the backdrop of beautiful green hills! Serene Atmosphere! The best part about this winery is you can walk in whenever you want without prior permission. We were also taken on a tour of the manufacturing facility. I am not a ‘Wine person’ but I am an analytical Chemist by profession, so the tour was quite informative- the process of wine making, analysis of wines etc.. You can also indulge in ‘Wine tasting’ at the bar for which I wasn’t…
