In contrast to week days, Weekends I cook some elaborate meals. This weekend I made this Thai style vegetables in Red curry and Saffron Rice. For the curryI made everything from scratch right from coconut milk. I used the recipe for the Red Curry paste from Sanjeevkapoor. This spicy Thai style vegetables in Red Curry we had with Saffron Rice. I used lime leaves from our garden to flavour the curry . I followed this recipe for Saffron Rice, Except that I made it in the Rice cooker and with our regular long grained white rice-no jasmine rice. __________________________________________________________

Spinach-Carrot soup and Stuffed Dinner Rolls
I love having different types of soups for dinner. Many times we have some soup teamed up with sandwiches or a pizza or a burger for dinner- a welcome change from our regular Daal-Chawal . I am tempted to buy Fresh green spinach leaves (Palak) and fresh orange-red carrots every time I visit the market. This time I cooked the two together to make this scrumptious Spinach- Carrot soup- a treat for all the Popeye’s in the world We also had some very soft and fresh dinner rolls from our local bakery. Oat Patties
This has been quite an ‘Oaty’ month in my house. I could lay my hands on some Quick cooking oats and Oat Bran and I have tried to utilize their goodness to the fullest. Oat Patties, I…
Kadhi Pakoda
I have learnt quite a few dishes from my Punjabi colleague. I have already blogged about the Beetroot Kanji and Makki di Roti Sarson Da Saag, she taught me.Kadhi Pakoda is one more recipe that I have learnt from her. The weather here is perfect for hot piping Kadhi with Pakodas – the Punjabi style. Kadhi is made differently in different regions in India. The Maharashtrian Kadhi is hot and spicy (will blog about it soon). The Gujrathi Kadhi is a little sweetish to taste. The famous Sindhi Kadhi is an altogether different recipe, which doesn’t use buttermilk at all….
Friday Monsoon Magic -Dabeli
Incessant rains and frequent power cuts have kept me off blogging for the past week. Getting to work and back seemed like a big ordeal when rain Gods decided to visit us for 3-4 days continuously. The only positive aspect was the lovely rainy weather (which makes you creep under a blanket with a book in hand, music and some thing to nibble) encouraged me to try some spicy hot recipes. Today, for my Friday -Monsoon Magicseries I have a recipe for Kutchi Dabeli or Double Roti. As the name suggests this recipe finds its origin in the Kutch region…
