We had some guests last night for dinner; one of our family friend’s daughter is getting married. We celebrated her engagement earlier with Chaats. Now for the pre-wedding dinner (this is called ‘Kelvan’ in Marathi) I wanted to make something substantial yet different. Also there were two grandmothers coming, so I had to plan something accordingly. This was the time I felt the need for a ‘Menu Planner’ website! You feed what you need; Prewedding dinner+substantial+Something different+2 grandmothers and press Search! And then automatically you get the planned Menu: Veggie stuffed spinach parathas
For the little wonders
Dadpe Pohe (Spiced Beaten Rice)
This is a long pending post; so long that my friend S asked me to post it when I started blogging; and that was more than a year ago! Dadpe Pohe is one of those dishes which ‘no-one can eat just once’ – Very addictive. I can eat bowls of this when it is made; hope all of you like it too. S Dadpe Pohe specially for you from this Sudama! J _________________________________________________________Dadpe Pohe recipe Serving: 1 person; if you are like me otherwise it serves 2
Go Bananas!
Jihvā for Ingredients (JFI) is an online monthly food event, celebrating the Ingredients and what they can do for our Jihvā. This is the brainchild of Indira of Mahanandi. This month JFI celebrates the goodness of Bananas at Mandira’s Ahaar. These are some of my favourite ways (other than just eating plain bananas) to use Ripe Bananas; very simple recipes yet very close to my heart and palette. These Banana recipes are being sent to Mandira. Thank you Mandira for hosting this month’s JFI-Banana.

BTW, Lima Beansare also called Pavta in Marathi (which I very well know). This I learned after some research on them; though what we get locally looks a bit different than the canned ones. The buttery nutty flavour of the Lima beans complimented the soft beautiful Farfalle bows in a tangy tomato-mushroom sauce. This…
Spinach-Carrot soup and Stuffed Dinner Rolls
I love having different types of soups for dinner. Many times we have some soup teamed up with sandwiches or a pizza or a burger for dinner- a welcome change from our regular Daal-Chawal . I am tempted to buy Fresh green spinach leaves (Palak) and fresh orange-red carrots every time I visit the market. This time I cooked the two together to make this scrumptious Spinach- Carrot soup- a treat for all the Popeye’s in the world We also had some very soft and fresh dinner rolls from our local bakery. I stuffed them with some potato-beetroot-mushroom filling (usually…
